So this am I got the battery not charging message, battery light came on, and volts dropped. about 5 min later it all went back to biz as normal.

I had the charging system tested, and all was testing out perfect (no lights or messages on of coarse)

Then this afternoon it did the same thing, but shortly after I got the "Service Brake booster message" but then a few min later, the volt gauge came up and it was all back to normal again..

This is an 03 Tahoe ,,

Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same issue with my wifes 2004 Tahoe (the battery not charging issue). From the best I could figure out it was as if the regulator in the alternator was going out. One day it would charge like normal and the next day it would not charge...I ended up buying a new alternator and everything is good now.

Check cables for fray marks, exposed wires, loose connectors, etc. If all check out your alternator is starting to go.

Often when an alt starts going the dash board will light up with error messages. The supplied low voltage makes things loopy...

I'd say a flaky alternator. Maybe it was working fine when it was tested and it is probably on its way out. Low voltages will cause sporadic warning messages on the D.I.C.

Check if the negative wire on the battery is securely mounted and also the alternator ground has a good ground because that could make systems go faulty. Take care and I wish you luck.

I was thinking its a bad connection one battery negative or a loose negative wire on the alternator. Just make sure those are tight and may just be it..

Any solution on this? Had the exact same message yesterday. Battery reads a full charge, starts right up without hesitation. Lights and electronics are not dimming or lacking power.
Brake booster message but no difference in brakes...yet.
I have driven a few times since and have yet to get the same message.

Anyway doing some research, this was my first stop.

Well went to the car wash today. Got the same message. While I was parked in the automatic car wash. Radio wigged out and died. Then heater followed. Next the guage cluster went black. My rpms were bouncing up and down before it completely died all together.....inside the car wash (fml).

Yep that was quite embarrassing. Especially after the guy that works at the car wash was checking out my ride and giving me compliments on all the work I've done to it so far :( then he gave me a jump and I didn't even make it home.
So I'm searching for alternators all day today.

Got a remanufactured alternator today. About $160 for a 145 amp. There's a option for a 105 for our trucks but since mine has all the fancy gadgets and options I had to get the higher one. But no big deal as I realized that this was the original alternator from 2003 and after 150k it finally gave up, which to me is pretty impressive. So I didn't mind dumping the money on a new one knowing that. Changed it myself after watching a few youtube vids and it was an easy swap. I broke down on the side of the road and it takes literally 5 minutes to take out and 5 to put in the new one.
No messages yet.
And im assuming because of the lack of amperage that's why the brake booster was either failing or not registering. Fingers crossed!!!

Bump.
Happened again yesterday. Im hoping it's because it sat outside over night in 7 degree weather. It started right up but she was definately frozen. Didnt drive anywhere , only moved it from outside to back inside the garage. Friday I'll see if it comes back on. And from now on block heater will be plugged in if I leave her overnight, gonna be a cold winter here this year.20171115_160418.jpg

Seems like a strange problem for being voltage-related. Wow, 7 degrees already?
