I've always suspected that is why the Toyota Landcruisers with diesels get such great gas mileage. Hmmm...what happens if I put a diesel in the Tahoe, change the gearing, and add skinny tires?

Model T on steroids?

:) Having spent time in Southern Africa and Mozambique - those are the bomb man. They are definitely the most durable and DEPENDABLE vehicles. Land Rovers are by far the most proliferated there, but the LandCruisers are favored if you can get one. Interesting note: Ford trucks are gaining popularity (insanely expensive), Jeeps are viewed as untrustworthy (though they LOVE the branded Jeep clothing and gear), not a Chevy on the road. Mercedes G class vehicles are also revered for incredible durability - the ones spec'd for UN. Diesels preferred.

Thanks. This is a cool option. I might take you up on your offer. But will also consider buying a subscription. I have a tendency to hang on to my vehicles for a long time - so I'd probably buy the 5 year if keep the Tahoe.

Cheers!

Any chance you can send me the info for changing out the spider? I am just now going to go Texas to pick up the '99 Tahoe (my wife injured her back the week before we were to go in August, so we never did go). I want to see if i can do the work and get an idea of what the alldata info looks like. Thanks in advance (I guess that's TIA)!!
Cheers!

Also might not hurt to seafoam your intake.

Do you have any instructions on how to do this?
Thanks.

With my stock height 2 door I average 15 MPG between city/highway.

(Disclaimer: It was in 120 degree heat with A/C blowing full blast.)
