The grill needs some trimming on the lower edge, and some of the mounting pegs behind it and it'll fit right in.View attachment 188135

Grill only needs trimming if you are using it with the stock Tahoe/Suburban bumper cap. If you install the 2500HD bumper cap, then you don't have to trim a damn thing on the grill.

Good info. I would need to trim if I go this route as I wouldn't want to give up my paint matched bumper cover, so that's a good heads up to have. :waytogo:

So this forum keeps getting better and better. Sorry to insert this in your convo but I'm a little pumped. Found out all the issues I saw with the Yukon I just got could simply be fixed for about $0

Was thinking I needed to swap seats with the tahoe to make the seat go down (found out it's common for the jack screw to get wound too far so I'll try that) found out about the guage just needed to be resoldered and that the intake will work. I know it's nothing crazy but I'm pretty happy that those are all things I can take care of on the weekend and not shell out a bunch of cash

Oops, forgot to add that. Doesn't some relocation of the bumper brackets need to be done if you want to use the HD bumper with the grill?

Yes, from everyone who has done the conversion, it seems that lowering the bumper brackets on the frame horns exactly 1.5 inches. Another option (and one that I'm actually considering) is getting a 1.5" body lift, and leave the bumper in the current position and just add the HD bumper cap to fill the gap left by the body lift.
I've been wanting to lift my truck a few inches anyways, and if I get the 1.5" body lift plus crank the keys a bit, (maybe even get lift keys) and get some 2" coil springs spacers for the rear, then it should be sitting at a nice height.

I do plan on paint matching the HD bumper cap that I got. It is textured, but that's the only way they came. I'm going to have to sand it down and smooth it out so I can color match it. I haven't decided get if I am going to color match the grill or not. I am only painting the chrome center bar if I do decide to color match it. I'm leaving the actual grill mesh and surround as it is.

I just replaced my ball joints. They had no movement but when I took them out they were definitely screwed. I am not sure how they didn’t fall out. Funny thin is I have had a bump steer problem for two years and couldn’t solve it. I checked the front end 20 times and had other shops and people check at least 10-15 times. For what they are worth I would do them.
I totally agree with you, but I am talking about things that were replaced only a few weeks ago. I must have nicked/torn the boots during install. They seemed fine and took grease ok at the time but they are obviously torn now.

Got to finally road trip my truck with the 6.0 and 4l80 and I was surprised to see 15mpg highway cruising 75mph.. I still have the unlock issue with no throttle input but it's easy to manage on the highway..just go faster until u it a hill lol.

I don't think 4.11 gears are gonna work out for me since I'm turning 2100 rpm now with 3.42 gears and that is just above where my cam starts making power. The truck is just pulling too hard at higher rpm and seems like fuel mileage would take a nose dive.

would like to know if anyone else is running a similar combo and their mileage. My concern was always having decent hwy range and this is acceptable to me.

Just figured out today my speedo is off like 5mph..I actually made the first trip traveling 80mph which means my fuel mileage is actually better than 15mpg since the distance traveled is actually greater the trip meter showed..jeez, this 80e swap has some learning curves.. cruise control can actually hold O/D when coasting..i gotta work out these bugs..
