Just purchased a 2020 Tahoe LT. Obviously the Tahoe has WIRED Carplay, but I'd like to add a wireless carplay adapter to eliminate the wires. I have tried 3 different adapters including the Carlinkit 5.0 and Ottocast U2Air Pro. None will connect. I even spent 30 minutes on the phone with Ottocast support and still no wireless connection. Can anyone help with a wireless adapter that is a good quality adapter that will actually connect to 2020 Takoe LT with no issues. BTW, I'm willing to accept a 2-3 second delayed signal, but need the adapter to connect every time the car is cranked. TIA!

Is your Tahoe a 2020 or a 2021? When I spoke on the phone with Ottocast Customer Service the rep said that they could send me a different model but I would have the same issue with any model not connecting. He said it wasn't a problem with all 2020 Tahoe's but he had heard it "a lot". He said the only possible correction for the Ottocast to work was to take the Tahoe to the GM dealer because Ottocast believes the issue is with the actual Tahoe head unit.

Had a 20, now I ride in a 21. Mine works in either.

Look at my earlier thread in this forum. I put in a link to one that actually works in my 2019. I tried several that all worked in other peoples cars but not my suburban. The one I linked has worked pretty good.

What’s the thread title?

No model markings on the unit at all. Took a screen shot of the initial boot. Maybe they can figure it out.

I have a 2016 Tahoe and 19 Silverado. The ottocast worked in both for a while and would auto link when started. After a while the Tahoe started working intermittently even swapping Ottocasts. The Silverado seemed more reliable and then the texting issues started and then the radio started acting weird and then locked up. I had to pull the fuse for a while to reset. We stopped using the Ottocasts. Even the usb Carplay is twitchy and sometimes intermittent. The Tahoe screen went black and is now at dealer getting a new radio control/screen with a $1600.00 estimate. I have no idea whether these issues are related to the Ottocast and not aware of any info. that does blame ottocast for radio/screen issues. I stopped using the Ottocasts out of caution.

FWIW without doing too much research I bought an AAWireless adapter for my Android. I haven't had any trouble with it in my Pacifica. For my '09 Tahoe I bought an adapter that plugged into the XM adapter harness which in '09 is a separate box in front of the glove box. I think based on my Pacifica experience I'd look at the "AAWireless Two +" which handles Carplay and Android Auto.

I tried the Motorola MA1 wireless dongle in my 2019 yuk denali but it was intermittent, hated vpn's and did not like the Florida heat (kept in the center console). The MA1 died after 6 months.

I did some research and found this AAWireless dongle and have been running it flawlessly for over 2 years. No problems with connectivity or vpn's.

I saw Carplay in the OP. Only the AAWireless Two + is made to support Carplay.

I had intermittently successfully used the Carlinkit 5.0 in my ‘23 Lexus GX 460. It would sometimes link automatically, but most of the time I had to manually launch it. Did the firmware update-no change. However, ever since I upgraded from an iPhone 13 to the 16 Pro, it immediately connects without issue. Don’t know if it pertains to your situation, but wanted to throw that out. It’s works exceptionally well if you can get it to sync automatically.

AA Wireless (Car Play beta) is the best. I keep it inside the console that lowers and raises. It comes with a troubleshooting app and though it occasionally fails to connect, simply unplugging it and then plugging it back in completely fixes it.

Plus AA Wireless (Car Play Beta) lets you adjust your screen display to get the maximum benefit of the 8 inch screen.
