So I'm having mixed emotions to sell the Yukon.

It has been in the shop for a little over a week now and I really need advice to keep it due to its age or cut my losses.

Right now the bill sits over 3k to fix "leaks". The money doesn't bother me as much as it in the shop. Last month it was the power mirrors going out and navi needing to be replaced. This month it's front axel leak , rear main , and oil pan gasket.

For as much as I put in it to repair these monthly issues do you guys think its good for the Long haul or trade it in/sell it.

That's when if was time for me to trade in the 05'. The list of repairs was getting longer and longer. Mainly nuisance items like rear window wouldn't open, rear hatch wouldn't lock or unlock at the worst times, speedometer would stop sporadically, A/C compressor leaked, climate controls flaked out from time to time (heat on passenger side and cold air on drivers side), fog light lenses fell off, CD stuck in player and the list goes on.

Just a matter of when is enough enough for you. Fortunately we managed to trade it in for an excellent price.

Sorry you may love your OBS but a newer properly running vehicle is so much better than something that is over 14 years old or more. You just said you put 5k in repairs for your 2 door, that is more than I paid for any of mine.

If your particular vehicle seems to be a lemon then I'd trade it in. Sometimes vehicles just have lots of issues. Sell it and buy something else.

Well 5k isnt much considering whats been done to it and how it sat 10years getting rained on, snowed onx droughts, and well only being started once when it was put in. And still with all that i slapped a motor in because the idiot mechanic dry started it and blew out my bearings and it didnt have a trans or tcase. Try putting an nnbs to rest for 10 years and see whats left lol. Hell the tires still lasted a long ass time and they where rotted and old and only one went out on a road trip and thats when we slapped new ones on lol. I really preffer my 2dr because thats when they where trucks now its plastic and junk

OP,
Depends. We got rid of our 04 because I didn't have a lot of time to repair stuff. With the wife and I both working, and taking care of kids and dogs! I have a 07 GMC 2500 LMM and have no plans to replace it. I hate the new emissions shit on the new diesels! Having something payed off is also very nice! A new Yukon= monthly payment, higher insurance payment and more money in new mods. But if you have a wild hair on your ass, then go buy a new whip!

Due to its age? The truck is only 5 yrs old. Yea that's new considering most people do not have them payed off for 6 yrs. You will continue to have little items that are going to break and its going to nickel and dime you to death if you don't know how to fix it yourself. I have owned prob 15 cars of various brands in the last 10 yrs and my 2007 tahoe has given me the most problems out of all of them. I am not to much of a brand basher but there will not be another chevy in the near future. I hate to say that because it is a beautiful truck.

i think there is a LOT of options on these SUV's

my daughter had a "Escalate the repair bill", and worked at the dealer, and half the time, she had to borrow a car to get home, or bum a ride.

when it was close to going out of warranty, it went out of her garage
(she traded it while it was in the service bay getting warranty repairs)

Consumer Reports rates the Escalades as the "worst" in many of their reliability reports.

my tahoe currently has a cracked dash (of course) and 3 broken door handles.
i have already replaced the power seat base once.
GM = "general maintenance"

I would sell it & do something with less options.
all them new-fangled gadgets is just waiting to break!!

Yes a lot of people say stuffs getting cheaper and more things are being made of plastic, but still like with many other things if you take care of it and treat it well it will last.

If you fix the broken things will you be happy? Will there me more things to fix? Yes. If you buy a new truck will you be happy? Will there be more things to fix? Yes. Albeit warranty has its perks with a brand new truck.

I also agree with 2007Tahoe, there will be little things here and there that will nickel and dime you if you dont fix them yourself and thats what the forum is here for!

Just get a bumper to bumper extended warranty then... a few months ago I had $2200 in repairs for my escalade at the dealership and warranty covered every penny. As with anything, it will eventually break down... just gotta be prepared with either $$$ saved up for future repairs or get the B2B warranty.

And Gzes-- Not everyone here wants a 15 year old vehicle that has more rust on the outside then paint. Quit hating on NNBS vehicles so much when you haven't even had one :imo:

Unless you must have that new car, I find its always cheaper to maintain an older vehicle than buy new. Weigh the costs but you'll find that many things are maintenance probs...the others, when fixed aren't likely to come up again. I find the parts onthese vehicles are dirt cheap compared to some others and it has been quite reliable.

Well I have traded in the Yukon since. Honestly I keep saying its a great car but the age of it was getting the best of it.

It was a okay 5 years of ownership. Even brand new I remember having it towed off within the first couple weeks. Really thou the lesson is not to buy a first year car.

The last 9 months of ownership it was in the shop more than I would like. I will miss it and I don't think I would be in a hurry to buy another gm vehicle. The quality just does not match up to the rest but I hope that will change with the new 2014's

We also sold our esky this year too, to me I loved that vehicle. (I would probly never own a black car again thanks to it) it was an 09 and we had zero problems with it. The power was always there not like the Yukon which had to think for a sec.
