I have a 2007 Tahoe that I retrofitted with a 6.0 engine and 6L90 trans (was 5.3 engine with 4L60 trans). One of the last things to work out is the radio is theft locked, i believe due to the ECM now having a different VIN than the radio (radio is stock, with DVD and navigation).

I took it in to a repair place who tried to do the VIN relearn procedure and didn't have any luck using the Tech 2 scanner, or connecting directly to GMs tech line (SPS?). Is there something else I can do to get this to work? I know I can go with an aftermarket radio, but I would rather stick with this one, especially for the cost if I can get it working for a lot less than a new radio, adapters, etc...

I did find some info online about programming it using the tech 2 scanner and telling it that it is a Monte Carlo, but that seems to be on older models. I haven't seen anywhere that anyone has done this on a newer (07+ vehicle).

Any help is appreciated.

No experience on the GMT900 body but I'm currently working on my 07 STS and the body computer caused a theftlock issue.

On older models you married the radio to the body computer, it looks on the newer models it might be the other way around. I seem to remember on my Tech 2 that there was an option for setting the VIN in the body computer. I didn't go as far as trying this because the BCM on my STS didn't appear to be the issue for my trouble.

So did you figure out what the problem was with yours and how to fix it?
