??? Transmission Temp Gauge ???

has anyone installed an aftermarket transmisson temp gauge in an early NBS Tahoe?

(I know you can just buy a new gauge cluster and it will work (with programing) with the stock wiring)
but I don't wanna spend $200+

I'd love to be able to drop in an aftermarket gauge and tie it into the stock wiring.
is this possible?
