I feel like my PPV could use a 3.42 instead of a 3.08 for many reasons. How big of a deal, and $ is that to deal with?
What year? Prob easier faster cheaper to go to junkyard and grab an entire rear with whatever gears you want.

I have a Jeep AMC CJ5 (79) and people with Jeeps the age of mine do it, and it get's pricey, ring and pinion, probably the whole inside of the diff (plus shimming and all that). And those Jeeps don't have computers and all that, that one upsets for doing that. With a newer vehicle with all the electronics, computers etc.. probably not a trivial amount of $$$ I'd guess.
