Do they work on our motors? I've seen them on race applications, but that is generally on built motors

Yeah. I saw one on Summit Racing. I've seen them used in racing applications, and I actually understand the flow pattern of the nozzle (we talk about such things in thermofluids) but how much of an effect would they have on our vehicles? I may just be the guinea pig and fork out the $30 to try it out. I wonder if I could use WyoTech's dynometer?

I don't it...people port and polish as well as upgrade to bigger size TB's for performance. This smoothens the inside of the TB but takes up space inside the TB.

Seems like a gimmick save your 30 bucks for a better mod.

Velocity stacks do have their merit. The design is all about smoothly allowing your intake air to merge from one larger size to another smaller size. Abrupt changes in your intake path I.E 90 degree sharp corners in said airway creates turbulence which is inefficient.

The same hold true for your exhaust. Crush bends in the exhaust are worse than nice smooth mandrel bends.

Depending upon the design of your velocity stack and the amount of mods you have on your engine will allow for better gains in horsepower or only subtle gains.

I use a velocity stack on my motor but it is not the one I have in my tahoe. Keep size transitions on your intake and exhaust as nice and smooth as possible. It will only help ;)

I understand the concept of fluid flow (I was a Mechanical Engineer major). I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with our motors.

We didnt mean to insult your intelligence...thats not a topic that anyone off the street would be able to explain...thats all...we cant tell if you were a Mechanical Engineer just from your screen name

As for the stacks...in theory, yes...they are beneficial...but although creating a smoother air flow, its taking up space...allowing LESS air flow... I dont think anyone on this site has ever dyno'd their vehicle with and without just the stacks...so I dont believe anyone here can give you a real answer with concrete details

That's cool man, I wasn't taking offense to anything. Thanks for the answers, I've been finding this site really helpful. I still need to snap some shots of my hoe and get them up here!

No problem man...yea, be sure to post some pics soon! :)

If only someone had a Dyno at their shop or something...This would benefit so many people with so many products...different CAI systems, Custom mods, etc... *sigh*....I wish one of us had that opportunity =/

i have unlimited access to a dyno... but im a little gun shy, last time i was on the dyno i ended up with a 1500$ bill for a new transfer case. and they need to have open time for me first.

I agree...I think thats so stupid to build a vehicle to sit somewhere and never be driven...but I already know you drive your truck...I also know your not going to destroy the truck throwing it on a Dyno everytime we want you to test something lol....

I on the other hand would DEFINITELY do it if I add one to use lol...but I dont have half the money you have into yours

lol yeah, i would say lets go got it, set my hoe up to be the test subject, but shes not stock like most of the other hoes/kons here. so the gains might be much more then a stock hoe or different results then expected.
