X 3...Pass it up. Chipping clear and rust just leads to bigger issues IMO

Kind of what I was thinking, expecially when I told him about everything and he said the same price and that he couldnt really budge. Sorry but they are problems you didn't know about that I am bringing to your attention and still getting it for the same price...no thanks

2004 SLT 2wd 120,000 $9k but put $1k into fixing heat, intermediate shaft, battery, fuel filter, windshield. Great tight truck otherwise. Seats were "refinished" before I bought it, but they look good.

Sorry Tenn is a ways away, plus I need something that is 4wd. Also have a vehicle that I need to trade in, so can't do private party

Haha! It's not for sale, I just bought it. It was only to show you different markets have different prices. I got mine in NC and just flew out and drove it back.

Why do you not try and sell your "trade-in" vehicle and get a loan from a credit union so you can shop private party?

I would, but I have an expedition and the retail for them is horrible so I don't know if I could even sell it anytime soon. I have been looking and even a private party wants close to the same or more than the dealerships with the same amount of miles.

Well, I wish you all the best in your search. For me, it is not always a matter of price or miles, but I personnally have had a lot better luck with private parties when it came to overall/detailed condition of the vehicle as well as the trust factor. For me, most dealerships are not very trusthworthy when you buy a used high milage vehicle, ........................... just recall your recent experience on the one you just drove.

Yeah I understand, sadly the Ford we bought was messed up yes, but my daily driver Honda was bought with 130xxx miles and now I have 255xxx miles on it...so it's not always that bad. Guess it's all in the dealership

Have you tried listing it for barter on Craigslist? I traded my wife's Nissan Altima with 150,000 miles (and needing some transmission repairs) for my daily driver 2004 Tahoe. Blue book values were roughly equal, but neither one of us had to pay sales tax in Texas for the even trade. We saved $ and got rid of a headache.

So we sold our Expedition so we can buy from a private party now. I found 2 that we like and a suburban.

http://www.millermotors.biz/detail.aspx?id=3910565&PrefID=0&.aspx - The racing "camo" stripes are kind of off, but its already lifted. Just need to know miles and if its 3rd row.

http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/4254027864.html - rebuilt transmission a couple months ago

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...mt=[GMC[YUKON[]][]]&listingId=335112084&Log=0 - I like this one the best. Missing a fog light, so it might of been wrecked??? Nice rims and tires, but is that radio xm because I can't tell

I think the Burb. Private Party one owner, new tires and all maintenance records, at least you should be able to figure out what you are getting, not sure if you can with the ones from the dealerships.

The black one seems ok as well. The lifted first one strikes me as odd, why would you not post the miles unless they are pretty high and the camo stripes as well as all other equipment mounted on the thing indicate that it must have been off road/hunting quite a bit.

My vote goes to the Burb, negotiate the price down a bit and with a little TLC, I think you will havbe a great truck.

(Of course in all cases, the decison needs to be made AFTER the vehicle has been inspected IN PERSON, ........... I have been mislead too many times by pictures/descriptions advertised by the seller).

Good Luck, keep us posted.

I like the Burb, and black Hoe the best. Not digging the bumpers on the camo striped one, and it's being listed specifically as a Z71 with the 6.0ltr. AFAIK the 6.0 was never a OEM option for the Z71. Leads me to believe that if it really is a 6.0 that it was swapped in, and who knows if it was done correctly.... When I was looking I went with a Hoe cause while I did want three row 99% of the time I won't utilize it, and idn't really need the extra room of the Burb.
