My 99Yukon comes with it.. you just push a button for compass / temp. I usually just leave it on temp. I like the ICE flashing to tell me when it may be slippery out. Don't ask about black ice, it really really sucks!!! It tends to trash vehicles...I know...

I thought that all Hoe's Yukons had both in the mirror???

Yeah if you go to the junkyard some 98+ blazers had them on their rearview mirrors, and their a little more thin and less bulky than ours. My 97 Just has the compass too.

okay so we get the part about finding the mirror, but you need to grab the whole wiring harness for it too and the probe part to tell you the temp

BTW, IDK if this helps anyone or not, but my temp/compass display was acting a little wonky(Random lines/chars) for awhile this spring. When I had the windshield replaced, I paid extra for a 'double glaze'(I dunno what it is. it takes a week inbetween single and double glaze). The wonky display got a little bit better with the single glaze, but the same day as the double glaze went on, all wonkyness was gone. It has worked perfect all summer/fall so far.

Might help someone else with a wonky display??? Get a double glaze!!! I suspect that someone on the forum will know WTF I'm talking about and describe it better???

you'll need the mirror and the temp sensor that ive heard is either on the inside of the front fender or behind the grill.

i keep forgetting to pull one up at the yards.

Does anyone have a part number for it? I am trying to look for one online because I don't really care what direction I'm going, I'd like to know how warm or cold it is!!

reading this post last week !! today i got the mirror with the temp & compass and the wiring up to the connection above the

steering wheel bracket but beyond that the wires keep going i

don't know where it ends. my 95 yukon mirror only has 2

wires for the mirror and 7 wires for this one any one knows where

the temp probe is? and is there a little box or something that

these 7 wires go to? I also got the ashtray assembly out of

this 98 tahoe it is a direct replacement with the one in mine.

i took it apart so i can color match gray like my dash also i got

the ash tray light. $11.00 at the yard. will need to go to the

library to find the wiring for the mirror (alldata)

Hehehe.. true story...

My boss was tired of paying for auto repairs, etc on his vehicles. So he decided to open an auto garage about six years ago...

He thought that it would be a good idea to save money to lease out a building and move both the It shop I work at and the new auto garage together.

So he went shopping, found a 6000sqfoot building, signed a 25yr lease, then moved our IT shop into 1/3 of the building, then opened up an auto garage in the rest!

This means that I don't pay for labour on my vehicles, and I get to pay shop costs on parts, and I have access to the garage to do stuff myself, except that I don't know how, I just get our mechanics, or apprentice's to fix my trucks. But I have access to the scanners, and I have access to the shops MOD.

Sometimes at work sitting at my desk, I remote into the Mech's computer and punch up MOD, select my year, etc, and just browse looking at things, until he calls my desk and yells, 'WTF are you doing on my machine, get the **** off now, before I go over and beat you!!!'. It's fun to get the old guy riled up!!! but he owes... This summer we bought a new hunter hawk eye alignment rack and hoist. I found a bluetooth wireless handheld trigger bar code scanner and hacked it into the software. So now the mech's just walk over to the vehicle, and pull the trigger on the vin barcode in the dash windshield area, and viola! He doesn't have to manually enter the vin on the keyboard to do alignments!

Anyway, enough rambling, I remembered seeing mirrors in the wiring diagram section of MOD, so I went back in, looked it up, printed it up, scanned it then posted it. Simple.
