Stuck Button - HVAC

first week of ownership, first problem - around the fan speed dial are four buttons for each direction of airflow (low vents, high vents, low vents + defroster, high and low vents) with the high and low vent button now being stuck in the pressed position. the button is physically stuck down. best way to solve? I was thinking of using tape to apply to the face of the button and work it out....

or just use a plastic pry tool around the edge, problem is if it got stuck it will probably get stuck again (try some super fine graphite lube), the control is relatively easily replaced if need be

..am I missing something? What vehicle are you talking about?
