Starting problem

I'm having the same problem as some posted. At times my truck will not turn over. I've check all things listed, battery, starter connections, etc. I have to constantly rapidly crank the ignition until the starter turns over then hold the key in the start position and after a few seconds it starts. Any suggestions?

sounds like its time for a new starter to me. next time you get it fired up park it on ramps or in some way that you can reach the starter body clear enough to whack it with the hammer a few times, then try to crank it. if it just cranks asap. the starter is going bad/is bad on its way to quitting all the way.
