I saw this Spoiler on eBay. Has anyone put one of these on their truck? If yes, how was the quality? How has it held up? Would you recommend it?

Thanks!

Haha, you funny guy! Not looking for aerodynamic effects, silly goose! I was hoping to gain a downwash effect to help keep that big rear picture window less dirty. It always seems to get filthy way faster than the other windows. Also, perhaps it would drive off a portion of the water during rain storms.
Is that more "clear"?

I was messing w/ you about downforce. I familiar with a spoilers function as well as splitters, etc. But, I just want to remind you of a saying: "just because you can, doesn't always mean you should." But hey, all in all in the end, it's your truck. If you just want it to be different and stand out from others, then who am I to knock you down. Remember too: you're somewhat representing the rest of us Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon owners.

OK, so you're looking for DIFFERENT aerdynamic effects, to keep your rear glass cleaner?
It ACTUALLY DOES get filthier quicker than the other windows, you're not alone.
That 'spoiler' definitely won't cut it. You want a Kamm-back, I think. Look at newer 'suvs' (yes I know most are too carlike, but hang on a sec).
They don't use a huge Kamm-back, but they do add some material surrounding the top and sides of the backlight to prevent air from passing directly over it,
instead of the air being attracted to the rear window and depositing dirt, it keeps moving backward, missing the backlight.
Hypermilers fashion much larger ones out of clear plastics to try to improve their fuel economy.
If all you want to do is keep the backlight cleaner longer, you really don't need a big one, it only needs to be a few INCHES, not feet.

This is obviously way too big, but look at 'cuter' suvs and you'll get the idea:

Okay , Electrick and Marque deGrass, I appreciate your responses as they were a source of amusement, which I needed during this winter's deep freeze. At least you understand what I'm after.

I just spent almost $10k to put in a new GM 383 ** crate engine, as I do love my '**. She ain't a "Side **", she my "Daily **". I drive her about 100 highway miles a day, going back and forth to work. So, I am receptive to modification add-ons that can make my daily drive safer or easier.

Yes, that ebay "spoiler" is a bit cheesy, but I was hoping for some positive results and actual feedback from a brother who had actually put something like this on their rig. I would like to see something with a less garish appearance that will provide the "aerodynamic" effects I need.

Thanks again!

I hear ya. Just be aware there are people out there who will try to sell you anything and everything they can that is (of course!) even remotely close to maybe fitting on your ride. They just wanna sell it. No care at all. Just judging by the pic it looks like a kind of spoiler I've seen over the tailgate of a few pick-ups around here.

I’ve messed with splitters & spoilers too….. along with streamliners…...
I remember seeing factory- installed thin rear wind deflectors on minivans, etc., back in the ’80’s or ’90’s.

Minivan, now there's a thought! Stylin and profylin in a soccer mom whip. Wonder how it would look with a lift kit and some 35's? Solid axle up front, I'd trade my HoHo in for that!
Too much cervesa clouding my better judgment...

I did find a company making a smoked plastic air deflector at CarId. Low profile, unobtrusive, and no permanent drilled holes. If I decide to spend a Benjamin on it, I will post a picture here.

It could possibly help if you'd included the eBay link- more info never hurts. Is it plastic, 'glass, steel? What do the mounts look like?

I doubt, based on the shape of it, that it provides any useful downforce; if such were even needed.

If you want to clean the back glass some, think about old station wagons. If you're too young for that, pull up some pictures. They commonly had air deflectors at the rear of the roof, to direct air down, across the glass. Notice how small the deflectors are, and how steeply they reroute the air from across the roof. So I suspect this piece will fail at glass cleaning.

The only actual possible benefit I see is as a rear sun visor.

Do they say that a raised hatch won't bump it?

Finally, ignoring all the practical angles, it just looks like a gimmick to me. Luckily though, it's your truck and your money.

Oh it's eBay? I seriously wouldn't buy 1 single thing off of eBay. eBay is not what it used to be. And not in a good way. Ever needed eBay customer service? It's non existent. Everything is AI driven there now. It's gone down the tubes if you know what I mean
