So today was the day to switch tires from winter to summer. That went fine but needed to reprogram the tire pressure sensors. So i get out my new (Christmas gift) Autel MaxiTPMS TS508WF sensor programming tool. Never used it before, followed the instructions, got 3 match fails. then a success. turned on truck all was fine. Went out a couple hours later to take a short trip and we have a no start. I see the engine light on the instrument cluster. Go get my TOPDON ARTIDIAG 660 S and there are some BCM codes which i just clear, should have wrote them down. I have tried the relearn process multiple time on the Autel to no success, it reads each sensor no problem but cannot finish the process, I get a failed message. Tried both OBD relearn and static reset. Tried also on my TOPDON shows that it sees the sensors but cannot write to BCM. Obviously I am not a happy camper and leaving negative off battery overnight. Any ides on what I can try next or is it time for a tow on Monday. any ideas greatly appreciated.

see if u have fuel pressure at rail and or starter fluid up the app. If no start on starter fluid the is no spark due to computer not allowing it for security, or component failure. At least it will point u in a direction. But there should be codes after it not starting after a few cycles.

Need a better definition of no start. i.e.
1. the starter does not engage
OR
2. the starter engages but engine does not run
either way it's always best to start by checking the battery voltage and cables

*it is normal for the check engine light to be light with key in the run position but engine not running.

I agree with @strutaeng , in that it is unlikely that the TPMS and no start issues are related.

I suppose that it is possible that you moved/broke/disconnected something when you changed out all of the tires, but at the moment I am at a loss on just what that could be.

So my no start is directly related to my tire change. Altough I used my Autel TPMS tool to reprogram the TPMS system, those attempts to upload the different senor information to the vehicle failed 3 times. Then fourth time it said it was successful but wasn't really. Problem now is the computer vehicle sees the new summer tire sensor Id"S but they do not match with the stored winter sensor ID'S. For those that don't know this will cause a no start condition, my problem is I have been unable to update the vehicle computer using any of the common available systems. This is why i reached out, and yes I can hear the starter solenoid making a noise but there is no engagement to the engine. My problem is quite unique. Mechanic arriving shortly.

TNPS sensor mismatch can cause a no start, Googled it because I didn't believe it could

nope, I find that very very extremely unlikely.
doesn't matter if YOU have no sensors, 2 sensors out of 4, the sensors are low battery, wrong sensors (wrong ones wont even read) or anything in between
all any of that would do is cause a tpms light. and that would not affect the engine in any manner the systems are completely separate.
now if you had a 2026 super dooper pooper teslo model xyz, then "maybe"

the vehicle doesn't "store" winter summer tire data
you write the sensor and after all 4 are written it is all new data, the old data is gone
even if you failed 20 times in a row it just has the old data stored from when you last did a successful update.

my money is on bad starter or battery does not have the amps to move the starter. which could translate into poor power/ground on battery connection.
if it was park/neutral switch it wouldn't even click

so to clear this up for you after double checking to make sure
no the tpms will not in any way prevent you from starting the vehicle (on a 2020 yukon)
IT "could" give the appearance of creating a no start situation where the service tpms message comes up at the same time as no keyfob found, etc
but tpms would not be a cause or the cause, there is no "green light" tpms authorization required by the vehicle computer in order to start the vehicle.
the key fob and the tpms signal DO go thru the same module, so when both messages come up it gives the illusion of tpms being a problem, when it is a only a symptom (side effect) of a different problem (key fob) or the RCDLR module rather.
that being said failure of said module are not entirely uncommon or interference from things like led lights or electrical fluctuations

My assumption is, if u hooked the new scanner to the truck and some how hit rewrite software or clear computer data? Cause I have sensors on my 04 and have never heard of that light creating a no start. It's just a dummy light. Had to of hit a wrong button somewhere. I want to know what the fix is or was!

And also u shouldn't have to rewrite the BCM! Just wake up tire sensors is all you should have needed to do. What I said above, sounds like u wiped the BCM programming.

So here is the final outcome after my mobile mechanic arrived on Saturday. He was able to successfully access the TMPS system and write the sensors in my summer tires. He was not able to start the vehicle and there were no codes. he then did diagnostic test on the staring circuit. All voltages are good, (I installed anew battery in December 2025), as are all electrical components and there is power to the solenoid. He then went down under the car and i hear a chuckle. This mechanic had also installed a new starter in December 2025. At that time he installed the new starter, and had with him a short wire harness that comes off the starter, but did not install as he saw no issues with mine. Well the connector to that harness failed failed on Friday just after I did the tire swap and yes had nothing to do with the tire. The odds of that happening when I did the tire swap are so incredibly low but that is what happened. Needless to say the connection was repaired and the truck is back up and running. Thank you to everyone on here that responded and gave possible solutions. This is a fantastic community.
