In my case this failed module presents itself as a SUPER high frequency whine originating from the module itself. Putting my ear directly on the module isolated the issue then I started googling for fix videos. I ended up just disconnecting the module (as shown in the video) since I don't care if the passengers have control of their A/C or music, and I have had peace and quiet ever since.

This thread could probably be moved to the electronics one, but I wasn't sure if general troubleshooting should be here or there.

It is caused by a bad ground. I cleaned the connectors and it went away.

Where is the ground that needs cleaning? I'm having the same issue with my '10 Yukon SLT. Always get worse when it's cold/raining (basically half the year or more). I also just lost use of my Menu and first preset buttons on the head unit... not sure if that's related. This thing has more gremlins than Gizmo has seen.

What exactly did you clean on the connectors? Are you referring to those harness plugs that he unplugs in the video as the "connectors"?

I didn't watch the video, but yes, the plugs/connectors that plug into the back of the RSE (rear seat entertainment). I originally opened the RSE up to see if there were any bad solder joints but didn't find any so I cleaned the pins and connectors and that took care of the whine. There are a couple bare "drain" wires, as the service manual calls them, that are basically grounds, I think they didn't have a good connection.
