I guess I'm the only one who had a problem when I cut my resonator off.
No fume issues at all. It just melted my rear passenger wiring harness to my tail lights.
I added a section of stainless to extend it some which helped.
I plan on adding a dual set up, single exhaust looks out of place, duals look better.
01Konvicts idea sounds good to.

Oh and there really is not that big of a difference in sound. Adding a muffler would make a bigger difference.

How in the world did it melt your harness??? Was the harness hanging down rather than being fastened up and away like it's supposed to be?

That's a good question. I'm not quite sure how it happened.
Harness was fastened in its stock location.

This kit definitely adds throatiness and a little deepness on start-up (with stock muffler), and adds maybe 5% to the loudness of the exhaust during driving. No drone. In other words, beyond the nice tone at start-up, there's barely any detectable difference in exhaust tone.
But I love the look----looks even better in person than in photos.

Don't know why there are two of the same pics...got these today and only took about 30 minutes to install....love the look and very little change in sound.

Would it be possible for a muffler shop to simply cut the resonator out then weld a piece of pipe where it was to keep the stock tip? If the hanger is strong enough to hold the resonator plus the rest of the exhaust, it should be strong enough to hold a section of pipe of the same length, I'd assume.

I love the way my 6.0 stock tip looks (rear exit straight, not downturned like the 5.3s), especially now that I've polished it. Don't want to give that up.

I recently moved and had my Tahoe inspected in the new county where I reside. It failed because of the exhaust. Which makes no sense because it passed last year. He said I need to add at least 3" for it to pass. $20 some aluminized tubing and 5 minutes later, he passed me.
I need to make a new tip and remove that crap that he welded on.

 had mine like it is for 6 years or so and never had an issue with fumes or inspection issues. Is your county a stickler for certain criteria on vehicles?
