I bought this 2004 Z71 Tahoe new. It now has 275,000 miles and I want get a much better ride. The poor ride has snuck up on me. There has to be a variety of suspension components that are worn although I haven't had it up to check the underside. It's had a fairly smooth life, believe I've only had it in 4WD a couple of times, most miles are freeway.

So what areas would be suspect? Are there any areas that might be famous for wear. I haven't replaced the shocks for a while and that's a good place to start - what/where to look for after that.

I'm in Northern Calif - any shops in this area that specialize in suspensions?

Many thanks

Bilstein 4600 shocks if you want a comfy ride, or 5100 if you want a ride with less motion.
The front jounce cushions and rear frame cushions are likely worn down to nubs after 11x around the world.

Those are just for starters, others will have more ideas.

Get under the truck and do a visual inspection of all suspension components. Look for cracked bushings, do a typical ball joint test, look for leaking shocks, etc, for starters.
