Hey everyone, I looked around on older threads about this topic but didn't find anything that explored it in the detail I was looking for.
I replaced my ignition lock cylinder on my 2004 Tahoe awhile ago, but never got around to having it re-coded to match the original key (also used for the door lock and spare tire access). I've re-coded the lock cylinder on my driver's side door before and it was easy for the most part.
To start, I removed the ignition lock cylinder but am not sure how to properly disassemble the tumblers and springs. There seems to be some sort of retainer keeping them in place, but it isn't straightforward how to disassemble without possibly damaging it. Take a look at the high-res photos of the ignition lock cylinder I uploaded.
I really appreciate anyone's help with this. Thanks guys.
