Dedicated thread for this disabler. Has anyone had any negative issues with it? Any thoughts if it actually will help solve the problem for lifter failures? I know arguments exist both ways.

Finally - anyone purchase on Amazon vs Range website? It’s sold about $20 cheaper by AWEGOO…? Also can use Amazon gift cards.

Thoughts?

That is covering all model years, not just this version. I’m asking about just this version, so it’s a different topic.

Perhaps we should only have one thread for the brand GM since they all are related to GM?

No, its only covering 21+ models. Mostly because before the 21 model year DFM didn't exist yet (it was AFM before the 21 model year, which is not the same systems, AFM was bad but DFM is worse IMHO).

The Range device works well, however, it may not disable the lifters on Decel With Fuel Cut Off (DFCO). That being said, it will probably reduce the lifter activity by 90%. You could also run in L9 up to 55 MPH to help with the DFCO activation.

Dump the 0W20 oil for a good quality 5W30 or 0W40 and change it by the time the OLM hits 50%.

What is more problematic are the lifter roller bearings long term even with short OCI.

I installed it on my 2022 6.2 L Chevy Tahoe high country and I loved what it did to my vehicles performance. I took the vehicle in because they had a recall to check all the 6.2 L motors to see if mine was one that needed to be replaced. Which it wasn’t. Well, there was another recall also for a software update. They couldn’t update the software and they told me you’re gonna have to leave your car overnight so they gave me a ride to enterprise car rentals. I was just ready to get in the rental car and the dealer called me and said we’re finished come and get your car the devices in the ashtray. Legally, they cannot install an aftermarket part however they did take it out updated the software and now I’m left with having to reinstall it. well, day before yesterday, I took my vehicle to my friends, air-conditioned garage laid on my back scooted under the car and low and behold I didn’t even have to take the fender liner out. The device is accessible right at the bottom of the felt fender liner, so my son helped me. He reached in and held the fender liner back. I flipped the lover on, snapped the original device, pulled it back put the piggyback device on snapped it back. It didn’t take me five minutes, so I wished I would’ve known that the first time I love the way this device allows my engine to perform no more gender identity issues. It is now a V8 and only a V8. I have not experienced any issues with this device so I am all in on it. Highly recommended whether you buy it from range or online sometimes when you buy from like an online realtor, they don’t honor the warranty so I would call them and ask them and maybe they will give you a discount if you buy it from them to match Amazon?

Thanks for posting the update. Good to know that if there's going to be some sort of ECM software update that the module probably blocks or confuses the vehicles data system. The module's easy enough to take out so probably a good idea if the car is going into the dealer just to pull it out in case there is a need to update any modules this way you don't run into any delays or extra charges.

Good to hear that the dealer took the module out and updated your software and hopefully didn't charge you for removing the module I get that the dealer is probably not supposed to reinstall the module as mentioned.

Very happy with my range module installation I have over 11,000 miles using it without a problem to date.

tom082551interesting that you experienced this.

I have a 2023 Sierra and 2024 Yukon. A month ago I performed an OTA update on the 2023, and not thinking left the RT installed and it bricked my truck. Bricked it so bad that I had to have it towed to the dealer (removed the RT before having it towed). Truck was fixed, but I couldn't help but wonder if the RT interfered with the update!? Fast forward I had to update my Sierra again, and perform one on my Yukon... before each update I removed the RT, and OTA updates completed successfully. For me, Sept was GMC OTA update month; This week one more OTA update for each vehicle showed up. On these last updates, I called RT support and had a good conversation. Net net, they have tested OTA updates with the RT installed and say they haven't had any problems... with one caveat, if the OTA update also includes a firmware update (apparently something new) they recommend that the RT device be removed. These last updates did not include a firmware update, so just let it rip, and it completed successfully.

FWIW: I'm probably going to error on the side of caution and just remove RT when OTA updates appear.

Good info, it is very plausible that the Range module blocks communication somehow or in one direction for some things.

Been having this module in my '23 Z71 Tahoe with 6.2 for about 11 months with no issues until last Tuesday. After morning startup, drove about 5 miles then vehicle throws multiple codes, ABS, charging system, and transmission. Won't go over 45 mph. I'm still under warranty, so call OnStar for tow to dealership. After running diagnostics, some reflashes/ECM updates still having codes. I guess at some point they start looking for loose connections on the ECM and come across this module, remove it and all the codes clear. Not sure if the unit failed or had some OTA update that jacked something up. Being this is my wife's vehicle, and it is not just a simple removal process it now can collect dust on my desk. Unfortunately, I don't believe this module is simple install and forget add-on that will be flawless for the life of the vehicle, I have zero trust in this module.
