Just a general thread about radar scanner does anyone know if these work at all and if there worth it any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

THey work great, what you need to get is a radar / laser jammer with built in detector too. Build it into the car so no one knows its there. Had one in a car about 10 years ago and loved it. Would drive by those radar machines that are on the side of the road and it would come back with all kinds of weird figures. Make sure it has an on/off switch though for the cops.

Sounds sick I'm not a serious speeder but these cops will screw you any way they can! Got pulled over today going 55 in a 50....thankfully got away with a warning though
Im going to hijack this thread because I was thinking about this the other day..
I have a radar detector that only has the aux plug for lighter outlet... I want to set it on the dash and hardwire it so I dont have to keep plugging and unplugging and have the stupid wire in the way.
Whats the best way to do this? Anyone done this? Let me know...

I have a valentine one in my other car and i used a bracket that wraps around the mirror. The website is blendmount.com. Kinda pricey I thought but it looks great and the detector looks pretty good tucked under the mirror. I tapped into the mirror power wire and ground to power the detector on ignition. The valentine one uses a RJ11 connector so I cut one up and tapped the bare wire end into mirror wires.

I got nailed nice yesterday he was 100 yards after a nice hill i was coming down so of course i wasnt going to slow down bc i want to caost to the red light without using the gas...lol...but im going to look into the jammer i hear a regular radar detector can be detected by the cops...

I have a detector and they can be detected by PD but a jammer gives them reason to pull you over and a bigger ticket for impeeding police work (not what the actual charge is called but cant think of it off the top of my head) Personally id go with a scrambler that allows the read but sends it back at a wrong speed again IMO. IDK how it is in CA but thats the deal in TX. Hope this helps

Cut the end off that plugs into the cig lighter, there will be 2 wires. One positive one negative. Hardwire that into something that turns on when you start your car. like the ignition or accessory wire.
Could I just use the power accessory wire for the radio since I'll prolly stick it up somewhere around there? or is there something better to use?

I love this idea!!! If I get a radar it's going to be a Valentine One and I might have to use this method
CA is the same too but this jammer/detector would post back weird numbers like the cop was reading something different. I had a on, off switch that allowed me to turn it off once I slowed down to a speed where I was forsure not to get a ticket. It was great. Completely stealth plus the little lights were flush mounted into the bezel it never stuck out like a sore thumb.

You could make one of these yourself but i felt like just buying one, and it had a very quick delievery. The invisicord is very nice to have because it powers on and off with the car, and you have no dangling wires, and can also mount your detector up higher on the windshield. I would definately reccomend getting one if you are a regular speeder!! (not something i am proud of lol)

To bring this back from the dead no I do not have a jammer or radar yet and once again have gotten pulled over...20 minutes ago...it's safe to say when I return from vacation that next weeks pay won't be going to subs but getting one of these... He was hiding accros a marina near by and all lights were off even drls pulled me over asked of I'd known how fast I was going ....50 in a 35...thought I was going less but he ended up giving me a ticket for unclear license instead 54$$.. My head was more on me and my girl fighting... From now on I'm not stepping in the hoe to drive her hone if were arguing just gets my blood boiling...

I have used an ****** Passport 9500i and 9500ix for the past 4 years now. As for the detector and it's features - it's an awesome product. My favorite features include the long range and the GPS to lockout false signals and to show your speed.
I am going to buy the BlendMount for my radar detector to mount it under my rearview. Also going to tap into the power running to the mirror, as some of these other guys have mentioned.
Just remember... do not depend completely on whatever radar/laser setup you go with... use it as an aid! You can still get tickets! Hope this helps!

Nothing but good things to say about the ****** / Passport radar detectors.
I am 39 years old, had various varieties since I was 18, and I have had ****** brands in my vehicles for the last 10 years. I'm not an excessive speeder, but I like to know where they are, and like the fact they give a heads-up on the speed traps. Valentine One makes an excellent unit. I put one in the in-laws vette last summer as they make a speed run to their beach house every other weekend. He use to get a ticket or 2 every summer, hasn't had one since.
I mounted my 8500's up at the overhead console on my Tahoe, Yukon, and my newest truck. Pulled 12V off of the fuse box beside the driver door, and ran a wire under the a-pillar molding up to the detector. Only power up in the console I could find was in the A/C control, and didn't want to tear it apart. I have an older 4500 model in my lexus, and after 12 years that thing is still going strong.

I highly highly recommend the 9500 CI. The CI is custom install. Very worth the money. Just pulled it out my Porsche 997S and put it in my 2 door! Love it. At a bare minimum it gives you a heads up that there is something close. Plenty of time to adjust speed. Spendy, but way worth the cash!

I have used the passport ****** for a while. Works great on the highway. Couple things. Lots of small towns you go through wont have laser so it wont help you. Also when I am running traffic, my radar stays off until I see you from my hiding spot. Turn it on, nail you, and im good to go! Also never seen a radar detector thing in use by police around here. Also, we usually dont pull over unless 15 over, 10 on slow days. Best thing you can hope for is for your radar to catch me clocking a guy that is in front of you a ways.
