This is probably a dumb question and probably posted in the wrong area but i dont know so oh well. Can you scrap and old engine block that is beyond repair?

Yes, my machine shop offers to keep it and let me off with no charge. I don't know what they are getting for it ...

I would imagine, you would have to call. I bet you get like 1 cent a lb or something.

just have to make sure all the fluids are out of it, but yea you can take it to a scrap yard and get some money for it, my father in law takes a load of old parts all the time and people are always bringing cars, washers, dryers, refrigerators,etc...

There is a guy here in town that gave me a few buck for a block that was no good. He uses it for mock up. Just needs something less then a full engine to put in chaises he's building up. :D

Its pretty rust but it doest look like it has any cracks or anything. Its got 2 pistons stuck in it that are gonna be a pain to get out but im hoping that its gonna be able to get cleaned up and hopefully illl be able to use it

Hmm, there's an old block sitting in the front yard of the house next door, maybe I should yank it and see what I could get for it (well, first I gotta figure out what type of block it is... it's an 8 cyl... I know that much). Thanks for the idea! haha.
