I have recently purchased my 2002 chevy tahoe 4x4 LT. It did not come with a key fob when I bought it. So I bought one off of amazon for 12 dollars or so. I followed the steps online how to connect a key fob, however my truck will not go into activation mode for some reason. Anybody know what the issue could be? I held down the unlock button and did the on off ignition thing twice but nothing happens.

Most likely it's not you. On our PT I purchased a KEy Fob on E-bay. I followed the outlined procedure to program it ... did not work?? We took it to the dealer on the Weekend, they tried also and it did not work. The manager suggested we bring the car back during the week and one of the more experienced techs would do it. ... worked out fine!

I purchased 2 for $18.00 on eBay - worked fine. Possible issues could be an issue with the keyless system on your car (thus the original owner did not give to you.

Just to be "clear" ... I'm not suggesting there is an issue with the part but I am suggesting, that they can be real "PITA's" to program. :)

hmm is there an issue with buying these from ebay/amazon? I need one for my yukon as well, but I know when I purchased an extra fob for the camaro (from the chevy parts counter) it programmed without an issue.

No I've only done the one car bought the fog on E-Bay no issue with the part, it was just a "PIA" to program??? I couldn't do it and neither could the weekend guys at "Chrysler???" The M-F , guys had no apparent issue, programming it?? Maybe they banged the thing on the table first??

Most likely the degree of difficulty in programming (a Fob) depends on the vehical???
