I have a 01 Denali, and whenever I turn and it doesn't matter left or right I have this sound coming from the engine bay and it sounds just like the PS pump when you have the cap removed kind of a moaning growl sound. I have flushed the old fluid out and replaced it with new and if anything it's louder. Going straight down the road and nothing, just turning. is this a common problem with these trucks?

I have replaced the wheel bearings with some Timken units and had the front diff rebuilt about 2 or 3k ago.

Any thoughts are helpful even if you think it's not related.

I cant help but my truck does it too. If I turn it all the way to left or right it makes noise. Mine is pretty random,a few weeks ago I had to make a tight turn at the car wash and as soon as I starting steering it started screetching just like nails on a chalkboard lol.

I'm sure it's either the pump needs a rebuild or the steering box is dirty inside and needs a good bath. Or maybe it's just the high pressure relief that needs attention.

Definitely sounds pump related. Try cleaning first, if that doesn't fix it, rebuild or replace.
