Painting an amp cover? Bad idea?

Just bought a used amp in great working condition. Cosmetically..not so much... anyone experiment with painting the amps top cover? I really want to paint the cover of this JL 250/1 amp all flat black.. Don't know how paint will be affected by all the heat displacement...

your fine, just dont put a ton of coats on it.
