OEM Windshield Replacement Recommendations – 2022 Yukon Denali XL

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on replacing the windshield on my 2022 Yukon Denali XL. During the recent snow storm here in Dallas, my windshield cracked — and unfortunately, it cracked in the exact same spot where I had a small dent repaired about 3 years ago. The crack has now spread through about half of the windshield.

I want to make sure the replacement is identical to the original (OEM equivalent), not an aftermarket mismatch. I’ve considered Safelite, but I’m not sure if they can source an OEM windshield or if they use aftermarket glass.

Has anyone had their Yukon windshield replaced and can recommend a shop or installer that:

• Uses OEM or OEM-quality glass
• Does a solid job with fitment and sealing
• Has experience with GM windshields (especially Yukon-series)?

Call Safelite and ask; I read they will do OEM if you pay extra. That’s what Is do instead of asking a forum…

Also, when you get a new windshield if you are prone to getting chips/damage and/or lots of highway driving I’d consider a windshield film. I have it on some of my cars and it works very good. Just pulled it off my 2022 challenger and the glass looks brand new.

Ended up filing insurance claim and they do have Safelite as one of the options. Will give them a call tomorrow. Thanks.

I didn't want to risk not getting OEM and wanted the dealership to be reliable in case something happened. It was around $650-$750 if I remember correctly.

You know the dealership will just sub it out to safelite. They don’t do them with their own techs there.

Called safelite and they will send a tech out. They do charge $160 in addition to deductible for the OEM, and didn't tell me they had those. I had to ask.

I know it's done by a 3rd party but peace of mind for me to deal with the dealership should something happen.
