Non-AFM lifter failure poll

Of the many of our generation engines that have had a non-AFM lifter failure, how many have been on the intake lifter?
There is a recent opinion circulating speculating the root cause is due to oil and gunk buildup on the valves causing a valve to stick or hang up occasionally which could damage the lifter roller due to bounce. If most non-afm lifter failures are on intake lifters that could indicate that opinion is accurate, and that a catch can could help.
Please reply to this thread with your experiance.

Although I hope to never own a direct-injected engine, a properly routed catch can ALWAYS DEFINITELY helps keep things cleaner, even on brand new engines.
The better the catch can's design, and the better the routing, the cleaner the intake air.

Direct injection motors can have this issue, as there is no solvent action taking place on the backs of the intake valves and their stems, since the gasoline is injected directly into the combustion chamber. There are products that you can periodically spray into the intake while the motor is running that will help remove and buildup on the backs and stems of the intake valves. Check to see if your motor is direct injection.

I'm a big fan of an oil catch can, regardless of the method of fuel injection. Oil is not a good thing to have running through the valves and combustion chamber. My oil catch can captures about 1 fl. oz. of oil for every 1000 miles driven.

Same way this forum is frustratingly skeptical about pcm / ecm & tcm tuning,
is how people also are about catch cans. Truth is, 'catch cans can never hurt and can only help'
might be too faint praise to get the point across.

To be clear:
So far as direct injection engines are concerned, EVERY ONE should have a catch can.
Is that strong enough?
