No Video Signal

Got a “No Video Signal” on my new Sony unit today. I called Crutchfield since I got It from them and had them pre-wire the whole harness. Not sure what is triggering the message, but I believe it has something to do with the harness. I don’t have a backup camera installed. The tech I talked to said they would send me a new HU today and a return label for the other one. Have to say they are an awesome company to work with. They really stand behind what they sell.

It will do that if you select the cam function and there’s no cam. Or if you have the reverse wire hooked up, you put it in reverse, and there’s no camera.

I have backup camera setting turned to off. I’m just wondering if Crutchfield miss-wired the harness. The unit does ( sometimes)know when I put the vehicle in reverse. Other times it will be working fine and while I’m driving, the signal will pop up. Only way to get rid of it is to turn off and restart the vehicle. The radio still works when I get the message

I removed my stereo and harness today. After calling Crutchfield, they confirmed that the trigger wire for the back-up camera should not have been connected to the interface. The guy I talked to today was far more knowledgeable than the guy I spoke to yesterday. I was very impressed that they had a phone tech available to speak to on Thanksgiving weekend. I could have bought it cheaper online someplace cheaper, but their customer service is second to none and worth the little extra I paid and will keep me as a loyal customer. Bill Crutchfield should be very proud his employees.

So even though you had the cam function turned off in the HU, it still tried to turn on? And randomly at that since you said it pops up while driving?

Exactly. As soon as that wire receives any voltage it triggers the HU to think I’m backing up. Since it was wired to the PAC interface, I’m guessing it was back feeding voltage to the trigger wire. Once that happened, I would get the “No Video Signal” since I don’t have a back-up camera. All is good now. I checked online as well and there were a few posts on Sony’s community page about the exact same thing.
