When they dropped auto stop/start and gave a measly $50 credit, I shrugged. I've always turned off this feature, personally.

Now they've dropped wireless charging - a huge selling point in the year 2021! - and given $75 credit. That would be a deal breaker to me. They've also dropped steering column lock and given another 50 bucks. Funny the values the bean-counters place on these amenities.

Wonder if wireless charging could be retrofitted after the chip shortage ends? Or did they run out of pads?

Guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal if you could come back at a later time and pay the 75 bucks to get it put back in... But I agree I don't think the cost reflects a reasonable value for a missing feature especially if its permanent.

On a side note, I do like the wireless charging, but the wireless CarPlay is still a little buggy (not sure its just a chevy issue and Apple doesn't have some blame in that too), so I am still hardwiring my phone which defeats the need of the wireless charging... sure hope they figure that one out.

I have the wireless charging but I am the type that only charges my phone when I can charge to 100% so I have used the wireless charging 1 time on a road trip in 12K miles of owning it.

That’s pretty sucky really, it’s a feature that if you’ve never had it, you won’t miss it, but once you’ve had it you don’t want to be without it. Are things really that bad that they can’t include this basic feature? Why does everybody think as soon as we switch to 2022s everything is going to magically be better?

My order is going to roll over. I don’t think the 22 model year will magically get better. There are articles that show GM opened up another plant “as the chip shortage eases”. And they were saying they expected to be at normal production by 2022. They just never said early/mid/late 2022.

However, this steering wheel lock & wireless charging pad, deal breaker. Not dropping $$$$ on a vehicle GM cannot even build with the features they advertised it having.

idk why GM cannot secure chips, Ford just did. :(

i miss walking on the lot & finding the vehicle i want, already there. :(

You just know that when the time comes to trade these in the salesman will say something like, we can't give you the best trade-in because of these missing features, sorry bud.

That ding will be multiples of the token $50 - $75 mini credit.

I took delivery today, and my sales guy mentioned to me that I was lucky to get the wireless charging, as they are removing it as an option. He didn't say whether or not it was permanent...

would be nice if they credited you what they will then charge to add it back later when the chip shortage is over, somehow I doubt the charge would be just $75

What kind of bug are you having?

FWIW it works perfectly in my Escalade. I don’t think it’s Apple related.

Mine was super buggy (wouldn't connect after remote starts or just randomly) until they replaced the head unit, now it works flawlessly.

I never use my wireless charger since it's in a spot where I usually store sunglasses and other stuff. I wish they put the charger in the armrest like the previous gen.

I've had wireless charging in the last 2 cars I've had an never used it once. The 1st one my phone was too big unless I took it out of the case every time, and now I'm just too lazy to take the pop socket off the case to use the wireless charging. Maybe if I had a smaller phone I'd use it more, Idk

I use the wireless charging daily... Big loss IMO
Same here. Set it in the tray and forget it. Enjoy the wireless carplay and arrive at destination with a battery that is full. No futzing around with cables etc.

I have a Motorola Android phone and wireless charging has never worked reliably in my 2019 Camro SS or my 2021 Tahoe.

Nothing too major, sometimes it takes a bit to connect (I think it uses the WiFi from the phone to do the connection), but this could be because I am still connected to my WiFi at home.

Plus it is laggy compared to hardwired when changing songs.

Overall it does work, but I will say that the hardwired is still a better experience.

That doesn’t sound right. Sounds silly but try and reboot your phone. It connects via Bluetooth not WiFi.

You may wish to look into it some more. Wireless CarPlay uses Bluetooth to initiate a connection but switches to WiFi after the initiation because Bluetooth does not have the bandwidth to support all the functionality.

I have similar results as @waynehead99 with my Pioneer. Laggy and inconsistent behavior wirelessly compared to the wired connection.
