Gotcha, so I need to tell him to look for the LT 2 with 5.3. Which is more common?

Well for what it's worth, Fueleconomy .gov has it the difference in the 4.8 and 5.3l's as 1mpg, not a huge deal I guess.

Is having the 5.3 a big enough deal to pass on a 4.8 if i find a good deal?

I wouldn't think so but again thats a personal preferance, beside you could always follow in the footsteps of alot of members on here and swap it to a 6.0L if you so desire :rocking:

If you come across a smokin deal where everything is exactly how you want it except the 5.3 I'd say get it then do an intake and a Black Bear Tune and you should have similar #'s :imo:

This might help.......found this little chart for ya!! :Handshake:

Engine
4.8L V-8 = 285hp @ 5600, 295lb-ft @ 4000
5.3L V-8 = 295hp @ 5200, 330lb-ft @ 4000
6.0L V-8 = 325hp @ 5200, 360lb-ft @ 4000

Transmission 4-speed auto

MPG: City/Hwy 4.8L 2WD: 14/18
4.8L 4WD: 14/18
5.3L 2WD: 14/18
5.3L 4WD: 13/17

So what has everyone heard about the '08's. I was talking with my broker this morning about some of the things i've learned on here, and I think the '08's might be an option for me now.

With either my warranty will be expired (or nearly expired with an '08), so either way I am considering looking at an extended warranty. I have absolutely no clue what this will cost but i would imagine 1-2 thousand and I'm sure the '08 is less than the'06.

If i can find an '06 for 20ish with 40-50 on the clock or an '08 with 20-30 on the clock, which is a better move?

I'm not as familiar with the '07-'08's because i've not had time to research them. I have heard to avoid '07 because they have had some issues. Aside from the new body style and less mileage, is there anything that would make me work a bit harder to find a deal on an '08?

I live in ATL so flex fuel isn't a big deal for me, couldn't even tell you where to get it.

08's are a better option if looking at the NNBS, I fear the 07's had too many bugs. (new body transition year)

I like the NBS body style but again that is a personal preference. I believe and someone correct me if I'm wrong that the 08's have a 6 speed auto vs the 4 speed auto in the 07's, but this may only have been in the denali's! I believe 09's had the 6.2L as an option as well!
