New Owner

Hi I'm new here and also a owner of a New (used) 04 Yukon. I really need some help and from lurking around this site Im sure I will get some great info here. Ok to start it was smoked in (allot) and reeks of smoke, the headliner is even stained. Any advice on getting the smell out. Then there is the problem of the dirty headliner, how do I clean it or can I? It's black and has really bad water spots on the body and windows, any suggestions here? The leather needs cleaning big time and the driver seat does not look the best at all and has one small hole, can this be easily fixed? I guess you can tell by this post that i have NO idea how to detail this SUV but I really really want to do a great job so advice on technique and productus would help a TON! One last thing, thanks to a big a*@ german sheppard it has some surface scratches in the paint, anything I can do for that? I know this is a longggg post and Im sorry if it's bad forum etiquett, please forgive me since I'm new here.

welcome, would you entertain taking it to a professional detail shop. They can shampoo the interior, may make it worth the extra coin.

I second a professional detailing. My dad just got an 08' Ram that belonged to a smoker as well. The dealership had EVERYTHING steam cleaned, shampooed, etc. As far as the scratches a rotary buffer in the hands of a pro should removed them depending on how deep they are. Look into getting the seat upholstered if the hole is really bad.

With more time and research on the forum you should be able to pick up the basic of detailing fairly quickly and eventually you will know all there is to know.

While I would 2nd the above posts in reference to a Pro Detail...

One of the things that has been a great help to me was a "Little Green Machine" Bissell makes it. A portable, small steam cleaner/vacum. Works well on carpets & headliner.

Now I didnt buy it for the purpose of my truck but used it on the truck, actually it was because at the time I was Potty training my daughter as well as had a Beagle that was getting along in years ...

So I can see where it might not be the best solution.. but it is an avail option.
That and you can get various soaps/shampoos for it.. Pretty sure they had one designed for "Smokers"/remove smoke etc...

I think we paid about 80-100 for it... and while that may be steep... it is YOURS to use when you want and how many times you want.

If you do not want to take it to a pro. Search the web, there has to be a odor nuetralizer you can use.
