Hey everyone. Brand new member. Sold my single cab duramax and got myself a better family vehicle that can haul my camper. It’s an 01 Yukon Denali XL. I’m loving it so far. There’s a lot I want to do it and a few issues I’ll ask about in a different thread. But for now I’m curious what I can do to turn this into a great tow rig. The 6.0 seems to handle towing my camper great, but the rear sags bad. I don’t think the air suspension is working.

Welcome. Maybe the bladders are blown on the rear shocks, or could be the compressor itself.

As one of other members would say, pull out those air ride shocks, and throw in some Nivomats!

I prefer the Z55 Air Ride myself.

Welcome to the Chaos that is the GMT800!

I’ll look into the z55 setup. I’m gonna have to fix that before I go pick my camper back up from the dealer. It was an unhappy journey getting there. Terrible sag and the campers only 3500lbs. Haha.

Welcome from another GMT800 Denali XL owner! Nice looking rig! Just did my first travel trailer experience last weekend! More than likely your shocks are blown. I myself really like the Z55 air ride suspension setup that the factory installed in these things. In my opinion it’s a perfect setup for towing. I replaced all my Z55 setup with the arnott industries replacement shocks. It works perfectly while towing, and I replaced my factory air compressor with the dorman unit and it works flawlessly. The Z55 setup, when it’s functioning correctly, will tow that 3500lb travel trailer with ease and stability!

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

You are already receiving sage advice from the knowledgeable folks on this Forum.

I recently re-installed my Z55 suspension, after a previous owner or dealer ripped it out and installed cheap passive shocks and struts. It now works great and levels the truck to whatever is required, as weight is loaded into or onto the truck. Yes, the first thing that I saw in the trailer photo that you posted was the rear end sag on the truck from the trailer's tongue weight. You do need to get that corrected.

I would bet you already have the Z55 setup, but some part, or all of it, is blown.

Look in your glove box, on the inside lid, there will be a SPIDF, look for the Z55 code. It might be Z95 too.

But you can start a new thread in the proper section for any further info. This is a welcome thread!

Z95 is magnetic ride control suspension, and is not an option for Denali packages until 2015.... lol
