Just picked up this clean Denali has a few issues

1. Service air bag light on
2. Steering wheel controls don't work none

3. The trucks goes to reduced engine power after driving for a while and no check engine light

4. When driving or taking off a little hard you hear a loud clunk sound or even when coasting and hitting the gas again it'll clunk loud

Congrats on the purchase.
Be sure to search the forums as each one of the issues has been talked about several different times.

Too bad you couldn't have helped by directing him to a few of those threads. While I am a HUGE advocate of telling people to use the search function....most do not know the correct question or key word to type. That is why they take the time to ask here for help!!

Congrats. I got my 05 Denali late December last year. I stole it from a used car lot. The poor thing had been passed around a bunch of used car lots over a 6 month period according to the title paperwork. When I test drove it the first thing it did was go into reduced engine power mode and service air bag notice along with some other ones.
Most likely cause for the reduced engine power mode is the throttle position sensor and/or the wiring harness that plugs into the TPS. Its a common fault once these get some miles on them. You can get the TPS with replacement wiring harness that is around 12" long with plug and comes with splicing kit. You cut the old one out and splice the new one in. Fairly easy job and goes quick.
The airbag warning and steering wheel controls not working are probably both related to each other. The Denali has had the airbag deployed because of a collision. Find salvage yard replacement and replace the module up on the front end. Have a stealership or someone with a TECH II perform a reset once all is installed.

Hello, I didn't see the mention of a collision, but to the OP, does the horn work? Almost sounds more like a clockspring issue than anything else. Perhaps take a look in the column area to ensure nothing is disconnected?

Just my 2c.

Good luck with the new cruiser!

Sure just start on page 1 of my build thread and by the time you're at the end you should be broke and have a damn fast and nice looking Denali lol.

Its not uncommon for GM K chassis to get into a wreck, get "fixed" and if the owner is "lucky" the title is still clean and no history on the collision so they bail on the K chassis. Trade it off or outright sell it without telling anyone the truth. My Denali has all the mentioned air bag warning along with some other stuff. I can tell mine has been in a frontend collision at one time. The dead giveaway was the repainted fenders missing the pin stripe that the rest of the Denali has.

I thought that was the case but no sighns of collision I'm leaning toward the fact that it might be a clockspring because none of the steering controls works either
