we threw a new compressor in today....air coming out at ambient temp 90 degrees....pressure is good 300psi on high.....i lasered the before and after on the orifice tube and did not see a big difference in temperature....this is bad right?

any tips for next steps ? we even tried cutting off all coolant flow to the heater core hoses to see if its a blend door issue - could it be that still?

i guess im looking for some specific tips on how to narrow it down to a specific component

also does anyone know ballpark what numbers i should be seeing pre-and-post orifice tube? shouldn't there be a large temperature drop there? like 30+ degrees?

Did you vacuum the system after installation of new parts? Then let it sit for a while to see if the needles on the guage stayed in the same locations? How much freon did you add to the system?

If the compressor failed, the orifice tube was usually the sacrificial anode of the system that got packed full of crud. Or, blown out if it was excessive. If either of those are happening, then you won't have the pressure diffential you need to make cold air.

It's been a minute since I did my last A/C job, so I'd have to dig my guage set out for reference as to what pressure you should be seeing. A lot of it depends on the ambient temp outside as well. Maybe a Google search will help you with those numbers.

today i changed the orifice tube and manually moved the hot/cold blend door....still no change

im leaning toward a bad/blocked evap core but idk how to check it...i know i should have colder temps on the suction line than i have

At 90 ambient high side should be 250-270. When my compressor went I bought a flush kit and flushed the lines an evaporator. Replaced the condenser because according to what I’ve read the newer condensers can’t be effectively flushed.
