I just upgraded my 03 Escalade to Factory 05 Electric Fans. While they work good they are drawing a lot of power...

I have a 105amp Alt ( Kind of crappy on the 6.0 **)

So I want to get a bigger Alt.

Can I go with a 130 amp GM alt from a salvage yard or are they good affordable aftermarket Alternators?

My problem is with Autostart. When I autostart to cool the truck down, The voltage drops too low and the Autostart kills itself.

Thanks

Bump...I am in the same boat. I found a wrecking yard that has the 130amp for $45 with exchange. Wondering if I can get a bigger OEM alt for cheap. Looks like the 2004/2005 has a 145amp or 160amp option. Can I use the 2005 in a 2002 Silverado 6.0L?

Thanks,

Travis

I'm not sure on the fitment, but if it fits it's ok to run a bigger alternator like the one in this link which is 145amp.

I picked up the 145 ALT from the yard- it came off a 2006 Denali and it fit my 03 Caddy Just fine. And-it solved my issues

$65 and I kept my 105.
