I recently had my Yukon broken into in a parking lot, while I was having lunch. I had felt confortable with the standard theft deterance. I have tinted front windows and I do not keep anything visible.

They punched the lock, infact I did not immediatlely realize that there was a problem. The lock still works, as does the remote lock/unlock. The only sign is the lock itself has been pushed in and has a slight twist.

Is there a way to better secure the truck and prevent this from happening again?

Sorry for the break in scott. that sucks. There are tons of ways around this. SECURITY SYSTEMS or lojack if you want to catch them if they steal your truck. But a place around here that specializes in security systems wanted to change me 250 for a complete install and ripping out my old one. Ovcourse the Viper system was included too.

But all in all they didnt get anything right? just now you have a broken lock cylinder? Thats not bad and they must of never done one before. lol. Did the alarm go off??

They only took my Laptop and my brief case. Not sure how they saw it as it was fairly well hidden.

My concern is if they can punch the lock, then they can pretty much get in easily. I assumed that they would have had to break a window to get in, which would have set off the horn alarm.

Could I remove, change or augment the lock function so it could not be opened as easily?

shave the door handles.. lol theres tons of ways to get in cars.. slimjims, windows, etc.. It really doesnt matter if your windows are tinted or not for them to feel the need that this is a good truck to break into. Exterior apparel is what pretty much gets them interested in cars/trucks. They figure if someone has tinted windows, well they must be hiding something correct? If you have nice rims, chrome and shit on the outside, well you must have something good on the inside..

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are aftermarket steel plates/inserts that you can put in your doors adjacent to the locks to make punching them out much, much more time consuming and difficult...but I honestly don't remember if it was for our trucks or somthing else...

Thanks! I am going to try and disconnect the lock mechanism, so they can't do this again.

I hope that there is a very special place in hell for theives!
