just kinda wondering about how many miles you guys get per tank of gas? not sure if the gas gauge works in the tahoe i just picked up. anyone know any way to check it for sure without running out of gas? thanks
fill tank ... drive for awhile ... fill up again ... compare gallons used to tank capacity ...get a rough idea of mpg with miles driven versus gallons used... apply that to tank capacity and you have a good idea of how many miles per tank.
Last I was able to check.... I got 375miles/full tank.
That was after a full proper tune-up, Seafoaming the intake, using synthetic blend oil, and runnin' 35's. This was mix around town/highway driving.
I usually don't like running the tank that low, as I've read that it can cause damage to the fuel pump.... but I had to know.
Most I got was 450 mostly city. Mine is a flex fuel and get around 14-15 in the city and 18-20 on the highway. Thats with a 500lbs box and my big ass in the truck.
The best I ever got was 440 miles on one tank of gas driving from West Virginia back to Georgia. That was doing 65-75 the entire way. When wife was driving the Yukon back and forth to work mostly highway we were averaging 410-435 miles per tank of gas...now that she works in the city we live in its mostly averaging about 325 or so.
Back and forth on my latest trips from NY to PA, I've been averaging about 14.5-15mpg. So with a 30 gallon tank, I could get close to 450 miles.... but I usually refill it before I'm dead on Empty, usually can only squeeze 26-27 gallons including the filler neck.
I get about 280 miles in my '98. Pretty bad, but it needs O2 sensors replaced. I've never tuned it in 75,000 miles. No idea previous to that. Presently has 228K.
