Gentlemen,

I just picked up an 01 Tahoe LS (luv it!) but it's missing something. In my old S15 Jimmy, I had an overhead console that would tell my fuel economy and stuff. Was something like this an option on the Tahoes? I have googled the bajeezus out of it and can't seem to find a pic of one.

I'm missing that in my 03 Tahoe, seems to me that it should have been there since it's flex fuel.

2003-2006 should come with them almost every time. 2001 was not optional. Im not sure even swapping out a cluster and having it programmed with a newer model will work on a 2001. I believe the PCM/BCM (one of the two) is set up differently. Im not POSITIVE on that tho.

The only way an 01 can get it is with the Denali center console IRC. there is NO option to add the DIC in 00-02.

03+ cluster won't work because of wiring/programming.

In my 03 I don't have steering wheel controls, but it still should be able to view some way it seems.

I have an 01 Tahoe and mine is located on the lower right corner of the review mirror. But the LED died a couple of months ago so I can't see the numbers, but there is a small square where the numbers are supposed to be
So you may have one but can't see if the LED isn't working.

Are you talking about the compass? If so it's not the same thing we're talking about.

It is actually called the SIC (Secondary Information Center). It was in the console of the 2001-2002 Yukon Denali's, 2002 Escalade/EXT, 2001 Sierra C3 and 2002 Sierra Denali.

It can be wired up to work in your 2001 Tahoe. You can either install the whole denali console or just put the little display elsewhere. Silverado and Avalanche owners often put it in the overhead console where the rear hvac controls would be in the SUV's.
