Hey this is my first post here I have a 98 Yukon and am trying to get some ideas of what this loud squeak/thunk could be when I accelerate from a dead stop you can really feel it a kind of hard thunk followed with a squeak feels like it comes from the torsion bar area and the rear axle it’s super irritating.

Sounds like you might need new ring and pinion.

Slip yoke could be the thunk. Not sure about the squeak.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

Like @exp500 and @George B said, I suspect the slip yoke and possibly u-joints going bad but need to check fluid condition and lever in the rear diff.
