iI took delivery last week of a 2025 Yukon Denali diesel. People here recommended Rivard GMC in Tampa and I got a fantastic deal. I saved about $8500 compared to the 7 other dealers I talked to. I love this vehicle. Comfort and amenities abound. Navigating the display is a challenge given features and options but I will manage. Super Cruise is a disappointment. It is inaccurate in passing and lane holding when compared to a humans ability to look ahead and make smoother adjustments and maneuvers. It stopped working several times each hour and even gave me a message that I had to shut down the vehicle and restart to try and engage it again. I think GM should have waited to release Suoer Cruise until they got the bus out. I picked the car up in Tampa and visited family in Sarasota, Naples, Miami and South Carolina. Very pleasant driving machine. Fuel mileage was a little disappointing at first but steadily improved. The last leg driving from north central SC to northeast Illinois yielded an amazing 29.4 MPG averaging 71 MPH. Waiting to see what impressions the first 10,000 miles leave me with.

I traded my 6.2L Silverado for a new 3.0L diesel one and boy do I love that diesel engine! Super smooth, relatively quick and fuel efficient. Don't miss the gasser at all!

Does super cruise use the same crappy lane “centering” technology that my 2024 SLT has? It completely sucks. It’s just lane keeping and, even then, the sensors let the truck wander into the lines of the lane. Ford is way better for lane centering and Blue Cruise performs exceptionally well too.

I traded my ‘24 6.2 tahoe for a ‘25 3.0 diesel tahoe. Idles significantly smother, plenty quick and over 600 miles per tank. Yes, I lost money in the deal, but it was worth it.

Sounds like you need to buy a ford.

I find that the automatic lane change feature is useless. Most times it will creep up on a slower moving car then slow down before turning on the turn signal. Slows down then moves over into the left lane and then accelerates. No ability to smoothly complete the task as a human would. This irritates me and the drivers around me. I ended up turning off the auto lane change feature. Super Cruise also tends to lean to the right or left side of the lane. Construction barriers are also a problem.

With the blue cruise you have to keep your hands on the wheel. I've used Super Cruise quite a bit It has been none of the negative things listed above. It sure isn't perfect, but it's a whole lot better that lane centering..... I think it's a pretty good thing.

With Ford lane centering, you do have to keep your hands on the wheel. With Blue Cruise - you do not. I just drove 1200 miles round trip to Quebec City with it and it worked incredibly well. Blue Cruise uses the same tech….it’s just hands free lane centering and adaptive cruise with the added benefit of lane changes. It’s pretty handy for when you stop for gas, grab a sub, and want to eat on the road lol

I don’t need to. The Full Size GM’s dominate for a reason and I bought my ‘24 Yukon XL SLT with the duramax for a reason. But, it doesn’t mean that the GM tech and some of the creature comforts don’t lag. A Ford Expedition Max Platinum is the same price as an SLT/Elevation but has way better features all around.

Does super cruise keep steady though? GM lane centering wanders back and forth in the lane.

As far as lane change, yeah I agree. But if you’re doing more rural highway driving, it’s awesome. You have lots of room and space. I’m not sure I’d want to use it in heavier fast moving traffic though. Adaptive cruise always sucks for that lol.

My 2025 Yukon Denali diesel has 2300 mi. and I am pleased so far with its 30+ MPG on the flat. It’s plenty quick off the line and pulls like a mule up hill.

Drivability is good and doesn’t have any annoying steering, suspension, throttle, or braking characteristics. The brakes do need a firm foot, but they are easy to get accustomed to.

This is my first exposure to Super Cruise, and I find it surprisingly convenient. On the freeways I have so far used it on, there is a bit of hunting or wandering. I like it and will continue to use when traffic permits.

My main complaints so far are:

  • Passenger side exhaust tips are crooked. The dealer claims there is no reasonable solution in that the replacement exhaust section to which the tip is welded also have this issue. (Diesel only) I will continue complaining to the GM call centers.
  • The MyGMC app would not work on any of my cell phones. It took dozens of calls to Customer assistance and OnStar with as many case numbers logged to finally get it working. Just by chance my last contact was with a call person who collaborated with another colleague (No promise of a call back this time) and found a solution. Apparently, there was some unknown aspect of my original account which was corrupt. They deleted the old and established an entirely new account.
  • The giant infotainment and instrument screens wash out in bright light with no way to adjust/increase daytime brightness.
  • I do not like the video rear view mirror and use it in its conventional mirror mode. In regular mirror mode it is too dark. I would prefer a non-video self-dimming mirror.

I had the same problems with the My GMC App. I agree about the camera rear view mirror. The visuals while moving seem like a confusing altered reality. Maybe my brain is wired different. Another annoyance are the auto folding side view mirrors. I like that they fold when I lock the doors but they do not automatically extend back out when I unlock the doors.

Something is wrong or not set up properly then because whenever I hit the unlock button my mirrors fold back out automatically..... That's one of the ways where I can tell whether it's locked or not from a distance.

my gmc compliant is the 'passive' entry

Why oh why does a gm require you to press a button to get the door open? Hasn't any of those GM designers ever driven an FCA product, since like 2011?

As the owner of a 23 Denali, overall I love it; but I've had a few issues (6.2 Pico test passed; 4 wheel system errors; wipers,..etc.) I'm looking at a 2026 Diesel.
I've heard with the Diesel, oil changes are now 10-12 quarts? Gotta change the fuel filter every time....any other maintenance things that are new from Gas to Diesel? Unknown surprises only discovered once you're an owner?
I drive 1,000 miles trips a few times a year, so considering the diesel for reliability and mileage. Everyone happy with the decision to switch to Diesel?
Is it noticeably noisier it & out of the garage? idling?

HP enough? I see the 6.2 is 420 HP, where the diesel is 305 HP

Thanks

You are misinformed. 7 quarts every 5-7500K miles. Fuel filter every 25-30K miles. Dump a 2.5 of DEF in at every oil change from WalMart ..9.00$. Fuel economy 20-30 MPG. Way more get up and go from 0-50 MPH. (more torque...)
It's the only way I'd ever own this vehicle....

Thanks -- I'm not surprised I was misinformed.
Makes the Diesel all the more appealing. Is it fair to say that diesel engine would last 200k miles, or more?

Agree completely. I’ll add the fuel filter change is extremely easy. Also get a green diesel fuel cap from Amazon, with two filler ports next to each other it just adds another barrier to putting the wrong fluid in the wrong hole. Very expensive mistake.

Well, in theory. It could. In reality, there will be many other things that will get in the way that probably may not let you get there. But not very many people really keep them that long, even though they say they want to. After about five to seven years, technology changes. You get tired of it, or you see something else that catches your eye.. Most of my vehicles have been around the 100 K mark and have survived that pretty well.

I drove my 2025 Yukon to AZ and some strange things are happening. On my first leg things seemed to go well. I did get the super cruise to start working by going through a hard reset. It still drops out frequently even on the interstate. Super cruise did scare me a couple of times when traveling in the right lane and and passing an exit. SC will start to drift into the exit the correct abruptly back to the left and will go a little into the lane to the left before settling back into the proper lane. Im in AZ now and SC again is not working. I get the super cruise “ Hands free driving not available- No road information” message. I guess I need to do another hard reset. I think SC needs more engineering work.
On my swcond leg to AZ fuel economy sucked. On this 756 mile leg I could not get better than 22.1 mpg on all highway driving. I picked up the Yukon from the dealer new with a full tank of DEF. I now have 3876 miles on the Yukon and I got a display message that I only have 990 miles left in the DEF level. After that bad day the following day my diesel mileage went back to its normal 27.8 mpg on highway driving. Hope these problems settle themselves out soon. As far as Super Cruise goes I think I just had greater expectations from the advertised capabilities than I got.
