Yea, capitalism at it's best. I like it. If someone does not want to be the buyer, they wait for a different rig or the price to come down. That is a sizeable mark up for sure but completely legal and may be done by 90% of us if we were in the same shoes. Good luck.

If you sell a house right now, and the buyers get in a bidding war and run the price up 20%, will you refuse the money?

I get it, it’s a normal emotional response to sudden price changes.

What we should all actually be pissed about is that the dollar you have is worth 20 cents less than it was before this mess. That’s the REAL story. The awful people are real. They’re just not car dealers.

The dealers are just sucking as much money out of the market that they can, while they can. Markets go up & down on a fairly regular basis. Wait a while and the prices will go down because the dealers aren't selling the amount of vehicles at the higher tickets, so they lower the price until someone bites. Or they wait too long, like a year, and they can no longer sell it as NEW. So the price goes down so the product moves. And it's pretty much a waiting game. They're waiting for someone who has a lot of cash and wants the vehicle they have. Meanwhile, we're waiting for the prices to go down, or at least the market to lighten up a bit, so we can pounce. Some wait it out to the extreme and get a great deal...for them, but not the seller. So it's a waiting game. The person that really feels the pain is someone whose ride has crapped out and it's beyond economical repair. They have to enter the market for a new, or used, ride. GAME ON!!!

P.S. If the dealers weren't making money they wouldn't be in the game. It's about how much they're making.

I have called Koons two different times about that Yukon to see if the price was real. The “sales manager” confirmed the price, said they won’t honor any discounts. Needless to say it was a very brief conversation.

I’ve seen in other hot vehicle forums, people pissing and moaning about dealers charging over MSRP, and the thread is over 2 years old….and you know what? 2 years later, that same vehicle is still 5-15k over sticker and still sold before they arrive at the dealership. Don’t think it can’t happen…..

But what makes this crazy, if using the house analogy, is that you can order that “house” with a slight discount if you can wait 2-3 months. That where I really scratch my head.

Supply and demand. They can charge whatever they want, someone may or may not buy it. Its a normal response for lack of inventory. We were warned of the consequences of shutting down an economy. Some are still shut down. It will take time to get back to normal, more if another pandemic is manufactured.

I hear ya! Sadly this is the current norm. Not just only in the auto industry, but everything, everywhere including real estate. I've seen folks dish 130K out of pocket to lock in a sale on an offer...

Yeah I saw this and was surprised, a lesser version of my same car with nearly 10k miles for $15k more than what I paid new. I'd be tempted to sell at that price but what the heck am I going to get afterwards?
