Hey guys -
I've finally found myself in a position to put a lift on my 95 hoe. Now I'll be the first to admit that I have no use for such a thing, but I've always wanted to do it and if I can now, then I'm gonna.
I haven't decided yet between a 4" or 6" lift, but I'm sort of thinking that, hey, if I'm gonna do it, I might as well do the most I can. But I have some questions.
I want to also put wheels and tires on it, but I really know nothing about sizes, etc. I know what it currently has on it, but that's it. Then I look around and I always see people saying they have "36's" when they refer to their tires (or some other number). I'm only familiar with the P285 R16 type numbers (for example). My question is this: When I'm looking online for wheels and tires, what sizes should I be looking for? The places that do the automatic wheel/tire combos seem to be more geared toward the low-profile type thing and they don't have any combos that say "Big @$$ truck combo". They have words like "offset" and such. What the heck is that? It sounds pretty self-explanatory, but that's a lot of money to make an incorrect assumption about. So how do I figure this out?
My goal is to get a couple options for tire/wheel size combos that I can look at and decide what I like best. I heard that if you go too much you have to re-gear things and I don't want to do that. I just want to tool around in a fun truck and have a good time. Nothing more than that. So it'll essentially be a big, tall, daily driver for a big, old, goofy kid (that's me).
Any suggestions?
**edit** I'll probably be buying these from the place that does my lift, but I want to know what I want before I go in.
