How do you replace the idler pulley?

I'm going to get a Gates belt kit and it includes an idler pulley.

The existing pulley has his weird push nut on it that holds the pulley and bolt together. I can figure out how to get the nut off, but I need to know if I have to find a replacement for the push nut when I go to install the new idler pullley.
Nobody that's mentioned this job has alluded to this.

It looks like it's not necessary to replace the push nut afterwards.

That retaining clip is just to keep the bolt "retained" so it's easier to assemble and also so not to lose the bolt.
