Hello, I have a 98 tahe 4door 2wd that I am going to be towing alot with and I have a question. I just hooked up my 21 foot boat and checked for the first time as to how the Tahoe was going to sit with the boat on the back. I have a little bit more drop in the rear than I like. I went ahead and used a 3inch lift hitch to see if I could get the tongue weight right and it is close but the truck drops in the rear to much and takes a lot of wieght off the front end.

Now should I look at using a helper spring? or a helper shock that has a spring on it? Boat and trailer weigh in at about 3400 to 3800 fully loaded so the amount that needs to come off the tongue weight is only like 50 to 100 lbs when I use the 3inch lift hitch (the adapter the ball goes in). I found a helper spring at rock auto that will add 1000lbs of spring rate to the stock springs. I just can't seem to find helper shocks that list the amount of spring rate they increase it by. I know adding these things will not increase tow capacity but I would like to get some of the drop out of the rear so I maintain weight on the front wheels for braking and steering. What are your thoughts?

Shocks are not load bearing, with that said a helper spring, stiffer springs, or a block is the proper route.

What does the block do? Lift it up and not change the spring rate? I don't need much, and the 1000lbs helper is going to be over kill. Are there any others out there that can do about 200lbs or so. I don't think I need much to get the aditude of the truck right on the money. These things just seem to squat quite a bit.

or airbags......

Never have worked with them so what can I do with bags? Can you use a bag as a helper?

airshocks will lift the truck, and be pretty solid, not sure of how much weight they can help suspend though. Helper bags will really help, and can be adjusted inside the truck if you have an onboard compressor.

Ok thanks guys I think I will use some cheap helpers I found for this boating season and I am going to start putting parts together and use bags next year. Running out of money this year due to my camaro build and getting this thing ready for hauling.
Should I do bags all the way around or just in the rear?
