Has anyone ran into this? Front bumpstops touching.

I did some research on just lowering the rear of my hoe to match the front. Research resulted in purchasing the DJM 3" rear lowering springs w/ shock extenders. Some folks have claimed that the 2" kit only lowered the rear about 1". Also, if I wanted to bring the front down an 1", I could loosen the keys. So my partner and I were doing a pre-inpsection of everything and noticed that the bumpstops up front are already touching the frame at its current height. Which is stock height. We both found this wierd because I haven't touched the suspension yet on my hoe. I had always thought that at stock height the bumpstops were at least an inch or two from touching. My question is, is this normal for the bumpstops to be already touching the frame? If so, if I decide to bring the front down after lowering the rear, will I have to cut those bumpstops or replace?

correct me if I'm wrong...I know someone will anyways, but I thought the cutting of the bumpstops was for the rear...not the front.

i cut both the front and the back. so did the 3 others here in town with tahoes and denalis. idk. maybe we all ****** up. but its worked so far

I have read where folks trim the front bumpstops but I am trying to figure out what the starting point was for hieght. If I do decide to go lower in the front and my bumpstops are already touching how much of the stop am I gonna trim off? I mean, at what measurement of the bumpstop height itself is deemed useless?

thanks for the clarification! On my 99 Sierra I removed the front and rear bs all together when I bagged it...then never put them back on when i went back to static. I honestly never knew they were gone as the ride quality never seemed to show it.

My denali sat on the front bs at stock height as well so nothing to worry about. And after dropping the front and trimming, it stills sits on the bs slightly

Before you cut them, there is a high likelihood you don't need to. The front should ride on the bumpstops, especially in a lowered vehicle. I learned this the hard way and ended up finding a nice pair of OEM bumpstops from a junkyard truck to replace mine that were cut too much. My truck was bottoming out like crazy.

Now it sits firmly on the bumpstops and I couldn't be happier with the ride.

I second that, if you cut them (at all) just make sure there is enough bumpstop for the control arm to still rest on that bs. We're saving you a major headache here...I was pretty pissed about this one

They're not bumpstops, gm calls them JOUNCE STOPS and yes they are supposed to ride on them, mine required a bit of trimming when I dropped it with keys so I chopped 1/2" off the top and it rides great.
