GM added more trucks and SUVs to its 10-speed valve body recall campaign; some owners to come back for a do-over.

The software update does not fix the inherent issues with the valve body, nor does it prevent further deterioration of performance. It simply prevents the transmission from commanding random, unsafe shifts at speed.

I think that most everyone can see that GM is merely kicking-the-can-down-the-road with band-aids until the owner's warranty expires.

So, basically, nothing to see here, folks. Carry on. Usual GM shenanigans.

I dont know why Ive stuck with GM since the 70s and put myself through the nightmares of their 'better ideas' starting with the 1980 diesel caddy. Paid 18,000. Kept blowing up. after one year got 2000 trade in. Then through the terrible 90s quality control. (quality???) Gotta say my 1985 chevy 4x4 350 was my second best vehicle of my 72 year life. I started collecting firebirds and have seven from 1995 to 2002. Stupid. Nothing quality. Everything goes bad. 2009 Impala nothing but troubles. Cavalier nothing but troubles. 1991 Suburban terrible quality. A major theme w GM has been the worst PAINT in the industry. So I get a Ford f350 diesel an d at 230000 miles she sings. Get my wife a 2013 tahoe with 113 K that looks like it never been driven and what do I find out??/ THE INSANE cyl cutoff problems causing lifter destruction. GM keeps throwing good looking stuff out thats masking horrible internals. Why do we keep taking it? My next project before I die is a 7.3 IH diesel in an old suburban. Yah I know---but anything is possible. GM trannies have not been great for a long time.
