I'm getting ready to start filling up the burb with E85. The price of that is currently sitting below $3 per gallon and there are a few stations not too far from me so I'm going to start doing that. I DD my Grand Prix, though, and we only drive the Burb maybe 400 or 500 miles a month so the prices do suck but we don't feel the sting as much as if we actually drove our Burb more regularly.

Have you run E85 before? In my experience, check cost in reference to mpgs. When I used it, it turned out to be more expensive.

maybe bc it's not as efficient and no one's buying it lol

IMO...If I'm saving $17 to $20 per fill up I could get 5 mpg less per tank and still be saving I think.

See my previous post. I get probably 1 to 2 mpg less for the tank but saving $17 to $20 per fill up I'm still saving quite a bit per tank. Now if there was only 20 cents difference it wouldn't be worth it but a complete dollar per gallon is pretty huge!

I was just going to say that!

E85 is a scam and does not work. It will destroy your car, engine and kill your MPG

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2007_Chevrolet_Tahoe.shtml

what you want is $/mile NOT JUST $ Per gallon of X

87 (which has the most energy per gallon) gets me about 16.5mpg

at $3.65/ gallon that's $0.22 / mile.

E85 is $3.00 in my area: from the above site; you get 12 MPG.

$3.00 / 12 MPG= $0.25 / mile.

E85 FAIL.

it takes more fuel, land, time, and MONEY to make it, then it just destroys your engine.

F*** E85.

Ok, what u need to know: E85 reduces MPG by 25%.

so unless the cost of E85 is 25% OR MORE, LESS than gas, it's a losing game.

Also, add the costs of added engine malfunction, fuel tank damage, etc. (just look up boats and E85)

Not to mention the 'cost' of only getting 300 miles to a tank vs 400! driving to / from the gas station wastes your gas and TIME....

I won't put E85 in my Denali. Supposedly it eats up seals quicker. The benefit in SOME parts of the country is that it is easy to find and cheaper than gas. The problem is that it uses 25% more gas so you will be stopping for gas 25% more often. In the end you'll spend about the same, except for potential fuel system problems later on. With most fuel systems the fuel pump now sits on top of the tank with the filter. Guess how much that costs to replace $800-2000 depending on vehicle.

As far as what to do with high gas prices? When you bought the vehicle did you consider that prices would go up? My Denali gets about 18-20mpg on the highway but I didn't expect it to be a gas miser, not at 6000lbs, 6.2 L V8 and shaped like a brick.

For those desiring a trade in remember that big SUVs are not selling that well now for the same reason why you want to sell it. That means you will lose trade-in or resale value so in the end you are going to lose thousands of dollars on the sale, buy say an Acadia and decrease your fuel bill by at the most 25%. I say at the most because my Denali was actually more efficient than an Acadia I had for some trips. If the road is not dead flat or going down the Acadia will use 5th or even 4th gear. Yukon doesn't care until you hit about a 5% grade.

Not to mention that fuel efficient cars are actually rising in value. Trading just doesn't make good sense:shrug:

Get the Exxon Mobile Credit Card from Citi.. I get 15¢ back on every gallon I buy of Exxon gas applied to my monthly statement as a rebate (in increments of $10). It helps ease the pain at the pump.

that explains why Exxon is $.12-$.15 higher than Hess around here lol..

REGULAR FULL SERVICE (because in New jersey "we" aren't allowed to pump our own gas, which is fine by me. I lived in NY all my life i hated pumping my own gas, especially when someone got gas all over the handle) $3.47

Super (93) is only $.20 higher at $3.67... strange thing is when gas was only 2.50-ish (and even when it was $.89) super was always $.35-.40 more than regular?????? why the hell is super so cheap now? nobody buying it?

ummmm come on people! we didnt buy these vehicles for the gas mileage!
fortunaltey i only drive 350ish miles a month so cost could be 5 bucks a gallon and i could care less-- obviously if you have a 1 hour commute each way-- you chose the wrong vehicle-
E85 sucks and in most instances it will cost more per mile than gas
i use supreme always no matter what and i never fill at BP after their "mishap"
