My wife's 2003 XL has many of the same issues I see many of you also have. Thanks to all of you and this forum, I have direction on the pegged oil gauge and the ratcheting blend door. We've decided to put the rig up for sale and get her something smaller now that our youngest is 16.....now with his own 2003 Silverado issues.

I like to keep my things nice, even when they're up for sale. With one or two exceptions I've sold every car, truck and motorcycle to the first person that showed up to look at it. Now I'd like to fix a few other small issues too, just to make it really nice for the next person. Can you direct me to a solution for the following other issues?

1) The driver 1 button on the driver door panel has peeled or something so when it's lit at night, the number 1 can't be seen. I want to replace it.
2) The lower of the two large knobs on the radio is smudged badly.....does this normally happen to the GM? I want to replace it.
3) The compass/temp display on the rear view mirror is out completely, not intermittent as some I've read about. How can I fix this?
4) The backlight behind the radio volume button on the steering wheel is out. Is this just a bulb/lamp or do I have to replace the whole button? How do I do this?

I have searched quite a bit here and can't find solid direction to any of these little issues (at least I hope they're little). Can anybody point me in the right direction? In addition, my son says the best place and best deal online for parts is GMPartsDirect.com. Do you agree?

How can I obtain a parts fiche online to look for all these little parts? Even after entering the VIN, what I find online seems very generic in lieu of a full breakdown with part numbers. Am I missing something?

Thank you for any help.

You can buy anything in great shape on ebay.....unless you want to buy brand expensive new.....
1. are you talkin about the window or memory seat button? i would go to ebay
2. using the button will wear it out. i would get from ebay or put in a aftermarket.
3. cant really help ya but you can replace it on.....ebay...
4. as far as i know you will have to replace the bulb...i believe its a solder job....
