Hello.

I had a crank sensor replaced and the car is taking an extra crank on cold start. The mechanic believes it to be the fuel draining back into the tank slowly by the check valve. Does that mean I would need to replace the fuel pump or could it be anther issues as well? Thanks in advance

Crank sensor replaced why? What brand of crank sensor?

"The mechanic" should attach a fuel pressure gauge to the system and see if in fact, that the fuel pressure IS bleeding back. It is a likely possibility. Was the crank sensor replaced for the long crank problem? If so, how was it determined that the crank sensor was needed and would fix the "long crank before start" problem?

The fuel pump could be bleeding off but so could an injector.

When the crank sensor was replaced was a CASE relearn done with a scanner? If not, have it done if not just to rule it out as the cause.

And as @OR VietVet noted a fuel pressure test would provide some good info. Maybe your mechanic did one but didn't share the test procedure or the actual results?
