If it's a high pitched "whirring" noise, your starter is not engaging the flywheel. It's spinning but not extending the starter gear into mesh with the flywheel.

It's more like a whispering noise. If I replace the starter and it worked I'll take a look at the old one. Just can't wait to have my order shipped.

Starter motor received at noon and put back in place this evening.
Now it's turning when I gifve it some juice.
Thing is, it turned on when I tried to put the wire back on the battery terminal.
Weird thing is the key wasn't in the car and the starter relay was not even in place.

There must be a very bad short circuit somewhere.


edit : thursday morning.
I overreacted a little bityesterday evening. I was tired.
I did create indeed a short circuit when I replace the starter back in place.
I've dismounted it, tightened the screw another way and now it works fine.
